Privacy Policy

Podcast Cleaner ("the App") is published by Bulpara Inc ("we", "us", "our"). This policy describes what information the App handles, how your audio is processed, how long it is kept, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be plain and honest about the fact that cleaning your audio requires a short cloud round-trip.
1. How Your Audio Is Processed
When you clean a recording, the App uploads the audio file you selected (or recorded) to our processing pipeline so it can be transcribed and scanned for filler words, stutters, and dead-air pauses. The transcript and cut list are sent back to your device, where you review and toggle each cut. When you tap Render, a short second job on our servers produces the cleaned file and returns it to your device to save or share; re-renders reuse the existing analysis.
- Where it goes: audio is transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our backend (hosted on Fly.io), stored transiently in private object storage (Cloudflare R2), and passed to a transcription model (Replicate) solely to detect fillers and silences.
- What it is used for: transcription and filler/silence detection for your cleaning job only. Nothing more.
- What it is never used for: we do not use your audio, transcripts, or any derived data to train, fine-tune, or improve any machine-learning model. We do not build voice profiles, and we do not perform voice cloning or synthesis.
2. How Long We Keep It (Retention)
- Your original upload is deleted from our servers as soon as the analysis job completes, followed by a short grace window (up to 24 hours) to allow retries if something fails.
- Cleaned results and transcripts generated on our side are automatically deleted after 7 days.
- On demand: the "Delete my uploads" control in the App's Settings purges your associated media from our servers immediately, without waiting for the automatic schedule.
3. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
- Your recordings: originals you import or record live in the App's sandbox on your device. The cleaned file is rendered on our servers and downloaded to your device when it is ready; the server-side copy is deleted on the retention schedule in Section 2.
- Cleaning history & cut lists: the transcript, proposed cut list, durations, cut counts, aggressiveness settings, timestamps, and the links to your rendered result and transcript for each job. Stored locally via SwiftData, so you can review and re-toggle cuts without re-analyzing.
- Preferences: default export format, aggressive-mode setting, theme, and notification settings.
- Usage & purchase state: your free-tier usage and subscription entitlement are cached locally to gate features. Subscription state is managed by Apple's StoreKit.
4. Identifiers We Use
- Anonymous device ID: a random identifier generated on first launch and stored in your device keychain. It lets our backend enforce free-tier limits and route your cleaning jobs. It is not your Apple ID, not the advertising identifier (IDFA), and is not shared across apps or with data brokers.
- Push token (optional): if you enable notifications, an Apple Push Notification service (APNs) token is used only to alert you when a longer job finishes processing.
5. Permissions We Request
- Microphone: only when you tap "Record" to capture a new clip in the App. We do not record in the background or while the App is closed.
- Files / iCloud Drive: only the audio file you explicitly pick is imported into the App's sandbox. We do not browse or enumerate your files.
- Notifications (optional): used only to notify you when a cleaning job finishes. You can disable this in iOS Settings at any time.
6. Purchases
Premium is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the Apple App Store. Apple processes all payments; we never see or store your card details. The App validates your entitlement using Apple's StoreKit (a signed receipt), which is cached locally for feature gating and monthly metering.
7. Third-Party Services
The App relies on the following services strictly to deliver its functionality:
- Fly.io — hosts our backend that coordinates cleaning jobs.
- Cloudflare R2 — transient, private storage for your upload during processing.
- Replicate — runs the transcription model that detects fillers and silences.
- Apple App Store / StoreKit & APNs — manage subscriptions and deliver completion notifications. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
These providers process your audio only to perform the task above and do not receive it for their own purposes. The App ships with no third-party analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
8. Tracking & Advertising
We do not track you. The App shows no ads, contains no advertising identifier (IDFA), presents no App Tracking Transparency prompt, and shares no data with advertising networks or data brokers. "Data Used to Track You" is None.
9. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your audio or transcripts with any third party except the processing providers listed in Section 7, which act on our behalf solely to complete your cleaning job. We may disclose information if required by law.
10. Your Rights & Choices
You can:
- Tap "Delete my uploads" in the App to purge your media from our servers on demand
- Delete individual jobs from the History tab to remove their local files
- Delete the App to remove all local recordings, history, and preferences
- Disable Microphone and Notifications permissions from iOS Settings at any time
- Contact us with questions about data handling at privacy@bulpara.com
Because the App identifies you only by an anonymous device identifier, there is no personal account to delete; the "Delete my uploads" control and deleting the App together remove your data from our side and your device.
11. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The audio you process is your own content and is not published by the App.
12. Data Security
Audio is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored in private, access-controlled object storage for the brief period required to process it. Purchase verification uses Apple's secure StoreKit framework. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we minimize risk by keeping retention short and processing scope narrow.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
